I can confirm the paragraphs are not hard-coded. The demo site is using the same version of the theme that is downloaded from ThemeForest on the latest version of WordPress, so there is no trickery involved. Promise ;-)

I did a quick search and found this plugin that might help you with formatting your excerpts: https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-excerpt/

Regarding columns, if you want to disable this feature of the theme, you can do so by opening header.php and removing the following on lines 71-77...

This is absolutely crazy! I deactivated all plug-ins as you suggest. I toggled column short codes on/off to see what works and what doesn't. On some pages your default column short code replaces the column short code plug-in code, one other pages it conflicts and no columns are created and some pages the plug-in works.

Obviously its in the code somewhere. I own a lot of Array, ThemeZilla and many other TF themes and have never seen this. I believe your default column code conflicts with the plug-in, to either cancel each other out or not work.

Also I deactivated all plug-ins and tried your fix to have two paragraphs for site identity, but that doesn't work either. It does not matter how many spaces added, it combines all text in that section into one paragraph. You probably added two paragraphs in the code when building the theme. It doesn't seem possible through the dashboard.

Yes, this is on the latest version of WordPress. I'm honestly not sure what the issue is as this is something WordPress has 100% control of. My best suggestion is to deactivate ALL plugins to see if that has an impact.

Sorry I missed the second part of your question...

The plugins I have are: Akismet, Column Shortcodes, Contact Form 7, Display Widgets, Facebook Like Box, Regenerate Thumbnails. Search Everything, Twitter Widget Pro, WP Super Cache, WP Super Cache - Clear All Cache (not active), Zoom Box.

Are you using Wordpress version 4.5.2? I tired hitting the return key from 2 - 20 times from the custom menu and it does nothing. I also tried adding a bunch of spaces and that does nothing either. I tried this using both Safari and Firefox. I also tried from the Settings menu but return just saves the page.

I'm not sure why your HTML is showing up like that. To get the two lines, I just hit return a couple times to enter text on a new line.

Since columns are built into the theme, does that mean the column short code plugin will not work? I assume so based on the issues I had. I want to format some pages like http://pasteboard.co/1p6SAgPp.jpg ...which obviously the built-in columns cannot do.

Ah, I can see the confusion. Those are just a list of useful plugins that I like to share in all the help files for my themes. Some of them aren't really needed for certain themes :-)

Just FYI in the help file you list column short codes as a plugin to download. If columns are built into the theme wouldn't downloading column short codes be pointless?

You don't need a column shortcode with the Contractor as it has column control built in. That said, the CSS doesn't know when you want the columns to stop. One method I use is I wrap my columns in div tags so that they don't spill over.

If you open the page/post edit screen and change the tab from "visual" to "text", you can use HTML markup to have better control.

Example...

<div>My first column</div>

<div>My second column</div>

<div>My third column</div>

I would also like to know on the first page of your theme, how did you get two paragraphs in the tagline area? Appearance > Customize > Site Identity > Tagline: HTML paragraph or line break code does not work.

I wish you had an option like Array Themes support where messages could be private.

Every page has column short codes but none work. For those that split into columns, they don't align correctly. A good example: Case Study > Investigations - column two goes in to column three.

I have trouble shooted this for the last few days and cannot find a resolve. I'm told there is a CSS conflict. I need short codes to work. Any chance I can get some help here?
