Thanks for the image. You might want to add the sizes that you typically use to your help!

I redid a bunch of images from her old website that were small in size and made them 800 high or wide and added detail in photoshop and made them a higher quality which solved the problems.

The site is now finished and I have been paid! Thanks for your help on this! I will note on my website sample for this site that you are the developer of the Curator theme and recognized as The Molitor!!! And finally I can sign off!

I just redid a bunch at 800 high or wide with more detail option in photoshop AND exported with a higher quality and I think this will improve everything. And I did just notice that your application can be pulled lower or wider and the sizes of the images adjust, so my question about the sizes is probably a mute point!!! Hopefully this will be finished soon, I think you are brilliant and my client is too picky!!!

Interesting, the source images I had to download from an old site the client had that was hardcoded and broken. She lost her web master.

Many of these images were small in size, like 500 width or less, but the client did not mind they were not big in the old site. Trouble is if I work with these limitations they can get fuzzy. But I think I can mess with them in wordpress and enlarge and increase the details one time then export to the web and save at a quality setting. Geeez!!!

Normally I create all images to upload at 800 width or 800 height at 72 dpi at medium quality and it works fine. Click on Grid-based Category Twelve Leaves which I redid at 800 width and height and I think it looks good.

BUT Please do tell me what size your application uses for what is depicted on your category pages as well as when one clicks the magnifying glass to enlarge.!!!!

Please let me know soon, because the client is suppose to come here to me tomorrow to finish or dump me!!!!! And I just won an award for being one of the ten best designers in this neck of the woods!!!

Hi there,

DPI doesn't really matter for web. That's only something you need to worry about for print.

Regarding the image quality, it really depends on your source image. The size doesn't matter as the theme will resize it to fit the space it occupies. I recommend just making sure you're uploading a clear image as some of those source images seem to be blurry when they were uploaded.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Thanks I will check now. Is there a size you would recommend. I used to make everything 800 pixels longest or shortest side at 72 dpi. Perhaps there is a different size that would help stop the problems I am seeing!

What size did you make yours for your live demo? Please get back to me soon if you can so I don't lose a client!

Hi there,

Some of your source images are already very blurry. See this example: http://a15.f99.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Cocoons.jpg

I recommend double-checking your images when you upload them to the posts.

Hope that helps.

Best,

She complained that when she clicked on some images to see enlargements they were fussy, when clicked on from timeline or from an individual category page such as Grid-Based. I reworked just two images (and added detail in photoshop before I exported to the web at 800 wide or height) and I think I solved that particular problem. See this page: http://a15.f99.myftpupload.com/category/grid-based/

But there is another problem my client is very unhappy about: on the Category pages, such as Grid-based notice how fuzzy the images are. For instance, when you click on the first image named Spheres an image is loaded that retains the nice detail which I worked in photoshop and just added as a new featured image. Also, I reworked the image I loaded as featured for the second image named Twelve Leaves, and it looks nicely detailed when you click on it, but it is fuzzy on the category page named Grid-based. Is there any way to control this?

The client also does not like the sizes of the images on the category pages and I told her without having a hand-coded site with many different sizes of images for different purposes, we could not control this in a Wordpress setting.

So the main issue I think remains is there any way to get sharper crisper images on the page such as the one I listed at the top? Thanks for you expertise. Let's hope this client can stop having panic attacks. Now she has said she cannot pay me for any more time but hates the site!!
