Try adding the following to the Custom CSS box on the customize page (appearance > customize)...

#header {background:none;}

To clarify, i mean I'd like to replace the very thin 'pinstripe' with all white

Hi, thanks for the excellent theme. I want to make the header area all white but couldn't see that as an option in the customization tab?

Is there any way to do this?
