How and where can I change the date format in the slider text? It appears 11.17.12 from 'November 17th' and i would like 17.11.12 instead.

I want to change as well the 'AM/PM format' to '24h format' at the main calendar. I have already changed the <?php the_time('H:i'); ?> at single.php but this only affects the post page.
