For the background color open your style.css and go to line 47

#contentContainer {width:100%; background: #fff;}

change the #fff to the color hex youd like, note this will change it site wide, if you want it to be on a certain page it will require a plugin or some customization

as for the padding you'll need to use firebug to find which padding you need/want to change

Hello! I'm wondering how I can change the background color and make it so there is less padding on a single page so I can have my embedded timeline go all the way to the edges - here's the link: http://globalrefuge.org/our-history/

I would like to make the background black so it blends with my timeline, and I think it's also better if it can be as large as the whole main content frame (ie go all the way up to meet the menu bar and all the way out to the sides).

I figured out how to create a new page template because I thought this might be the answer, but it doesn't seem that I can change those parameters within that template php.

Thank you in advance for your help!
