That works! Thanks! In case anyone else encounters this - l use the Post Sorter plugin and I had to adjust that to put the map center post above the others. I did a separate post just for map center and I used a tiny icon that doesn't show.

Hi there,

To make the post/location info box slider in the lower right function as intended, the map will center on the most recently published post/location on page load.

To focus the map on a different location, simply adjust the publish date for that item to be the most recently published post.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Christopher

Apologies for the delay. (One of my problems, of course, is that I don't work on my blog daily as I should.)

Here's what I was trying to ask - The zoom level in the example above is OK, but the map is not centered so as to show all posts for that category. What determines the center of the map for a category like this? Can the center be adjusted?

Hi there,

I'm not sure I understand the issue you're describing. On the link that you provided, are you trying to display all posts without having to move the map? If so, you'll want to adjust the zoom level for your map category settings.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Christopher

Thanks for your terrific patience...

I added a category to the menu, but clicking that category gives me a map that shows only some of the posts. The zoom level is OK, but most of the posts are off-screen. What am I doing wrong? Here's an example:
http://justoffthebeatenpath.com/blog/category/rtw-2017/rtw17_1/

Hi there,

The map will display all items for the current category. If you want to display all items on a custom page, you need to create a category (i.e. "all") and assign all your posts to that category.

Best,

When I do that (I just added China and Austria) and then click on the menu item, I get a map of a single post within that category. In the past, my posts have all been about Christmas markets and the map is centered so that all of those posts are visible. Now I'm in China and I'm trying to find a way to switch the map view to one that shows all possible?

Hi there,

1. Create a category from your WP dashboard. "posts" > "categories" > "add new"

2. Create posts (with location data) and assign the category that you created.

3. Add the category link to the menu. "appearance" > "menu"

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

OK, I've been away from my blog for several months and now I'm relearning everything. I'm trying to create a category post that will show a map with all posts from Austria, for example. Can someone point me to instructions for doing this? Thanks in advance!
