When you go to Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays As... what is selected?

This is the link to the site I am working and the home post are not showing up and I have my category name in each slot that I want to show up on the home page but its not showing up.

You do not need to create a home page. The theme has a built-in home page already :-)

hello chris - maybe i am missing the obvious here but having problems setting up the categories. am i right in assuming;

option tree -> theme option / home post setting should match the
apearance -> menus -> categories listing for posts to appear on the homepage ???

changing the categories on the former does not seem to have any effect on the latter, despite clearing the cache and refreshing.

also, i cannot see the auto generated home page as described here;

i have created my own home page - maybe this is the problem ???
