Hi there,

If you just want a slideshow, I recommend using the nivo slider and not the dual slider. The dual slider is really intended to posts that have additional content to read. The nivo slider is better suited as just an image slideshow.

Let me know if that works better.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks, that does help stop you from being able to click on the image and go to the post. Is there a way to remove the "Continue >>" message?

Also, when I made the change, I noticed that hovering over my dropdown for "Kurt's Team," it is highlighting each category and leaving it highlighted whether I select it or not. Any ideas why?

Here's what remains on this slider post (kurtforseymour.com):
1) The URL, which I don't believe you can leave blank (?)
2) The URL points to one of the categories in the dropdown: "Board of Selectmen" >> I'll be removing that option in the Menu section
3) I just made the change you suggested by adding the pound sign in the 'custom link' field
4) If you view the post, you'll still see the embedded image that I kept as a placeholder... I'm not sure if I should still keep it or not since the page will exist in the future, even though it won't be linked...

I appreciate all of your help with this. I hope it clarifies any questions that others may have.

Hi there,

Yes, in the "Slider Custom Link" field, use the pound sign (#) to disable the link.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Thanks again, Chris. (Traditional) Posts are working just fine and the slider seems to be working fine...

Questions:
1) Am I able to use the slider as a slideshow only? -- not with clickable images that bring to posts
2) If so, how would I set this up?

Hi there,

Thanks for following up.

To prevent duplicate content on the home page, the slider category is excluded from the post list. This is beneficial for SEO purposes as Google doesn't like seeing the same post (title, image, content) listed multiple times on a single page.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Maybe I'm just doing it incorrectly. The original image size is 1800 x 1440 (I can always reduce).

What I had originally done was created a post (as you would in WP), inserted the media -- I reduced the size to the 'large' setting, selected the category as "Slider" and posted. It did show the title, etc. in the slider box, however the image was missing on the homepage.

Secondly, as I said, on the post itself it just happened to have the image with the Facebook widget overlayed on it.

Can you explain to me how I should do it? Also, do I need to have three images in the slider?

Hi there,

Are you selecting a featured image for each post in the slider?

Regarding the post page, unfortunately WordPress doesn't support post page templates, so deactivating the widget panel dynamically for specific posts isn't a supported feature.

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Chris

I've tried adding media (pics) as I usually do with a typical blog.

I created a blog post, inserted the pic -- tried various sizes, then posted... It doesn't seem to show up on the homepage?

Since it's a post, if clicked, it will bring me to the post where the widgets will overlap the photo. Is there a way that I can either not have it clickable to go to any post/page OR if that's not possible and it does go to a post/page, is there a way that I can disable the widgets from being displayed?

I tried creating a page, but I notice you can't categorize them...
