To confirm what mfab was saying..

If you modify the css directly and save it doesn't change the size.

If you go to custom css and add: p {font: 16px/1.5em serif;} it works fine, the text responds to the font size change.

If you add: p {font: 16px;} it doesn't work.

this as a Custom CSS works:
p {font: 16px/1.5em serif;}

this doesn't work:
p {font: 16px;}

line 54 in the style.css

p {font: 14px/1.5em serif;}

so if the code you are posting is what your trying youre not actually changing the font size as your fonts already at 14px

I don't need customization, just an answer why your previous tip for another user doesn't work:

for a daily magazine theme the base body font is too small to read (and it's serif, why?)... and I'm not the first to point that out

anyway...

I was able to put this into Custom CSS and it worked (sans-serif -> bigger font):
p {font-family: sans-serif;}
...but that was just pure luck
here's how it looks now:

this as a Custom CSS does't work:
p {font: 14px}
...same goes for other font-size modifications

also we dont make modifications as thats not a support issue, we can direct people in the steps to take to make minor modifications but if you cant do them yourself youll need to fill a customization request out http://themolitor.com/custom
