I had the same problem as, I assume, everybody else who uses posts for events and nonevents.
I do not use date archives, though, for nonevents.

So I went for a clumsy alternative, creating a date.php archive that filters the nonevent categories out from the loop so that I could take advantage of the ajax calendar linking to daily event lists (which is its natural use in this context and it should work from the get-go...). I can't have date archives for any other sort of posts, though. But I don't really care. Whenever my php skills improve, this will too.

Hi there,

Unfortunately the calendar widget is a built-in WordPress widget, so it doesn't provide much in terms of custom display options. Maybe search for another plugin Calendar widget? I'm sure there are a lot out there.

Thanks!

Chris

Hello,

I would like to use the calendar widget to only display posts that are events (same as in the main events calendar) - however, when I have the widget activated, it is pulling all post categories into the calendar widget. Is there a way to specify only events category to be pulled into the widget calendar? I need to distinguished because I am using a separate category called "Articles" to be displayed in the homepage slider, however, these articles should not show up in the calendar widget. They do not show up in the main homepage calendar (that calendar correctly pulls only Event category posts.)
