<p>Just create a "news" category, assign posts to it and add a link to the category in your menu. You can also add those news posts to the "slider" category you created for the slider.</p>
<p>You shouldn't need to modify any template files.</p>

<p>I'd love to make some posts that will not be shown in the home page calendar.<br />
Example : one category "events" that appears in the calendar and the slider (thanks to featured image) and a category "news" that appears in the slider (thanks to featured image) but not in the calendar.</p>
<p>Am I clear ?
