That makes perfect sense, thank you! It's a shame because it means that most portrait images don't work as a 'featured image' on the 'blog' page, but i love the look of the full portrait size thumbnail when it appears as the 'featured image' on the 'home' page, which I would of course lose if i saved the 'featured image' to be landscape as to fit the blog thumbnail as you suggested....so annoying, but I understand it's a wordpress issue and not your lovely themes! Great advice though, thank you :0)

Hi there,

Unfortunately WordPress doesn't really provide that option. I recommend uploading an image with those exact dimensions to your media page (so it doesn't get attached to the post and appear in the gallery) and then use that as the featured image for the blog post.

Hope that helps!

Chris

Hi Chris,

Sorry to keep bugging you, is there a way to change what part of the image shows on the thumbnail in the blog. If you look at my blog page http://www.kaylastoate.com/?page_id=373 you will see that the 'a present for my lovely cousin' post has a thumbnail where the image area shown needs to be shifted up. Is this possible at all?

Thanks as always, Kayla.
