You can change the background color/style for that by adding something like the following to your custom CSS...

#ajaxContent {background: XXXXX}

Follow up Q - while the Category pages are displaying the background correctly now, when clicking on a post to view it the background associated with the post's category is not displayed, defaults to its grey background. Is there a different place where this is set?

Great, that fixed the issue. There were only three test posts so far - one uncategorized, one News, one Media to test those pages. This works now, thank you as always.

Hi there,

Try changing your permalink structure to "date and name" on the permalinks settings page of WordPress.

Also, how many posts do you have?

For some reason Category pages are not showing the associated background pattern and are displaying all posts instead of just the specific category posts of the page. Read through the documentation, followed instructions, still doing same thing. I must be missing something but can't figure out why it is behaving this way. Main menu shows category pages correctly, seems there might be something I am not enabling in the theme causing patterns not to be displayed nor posts to be correctly filtered. Suggestions?
