Hi there,

Yes, the background image is meant to be a design accent so as not to draw attention away from the page content, so there's a "mesh" pattern to darken it up. You can remove it by copy/pasting the following into your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

#mesh {display: none !important;}

Hi, no matter what photo I upload for the background image (including ones that came with the Novelist theme) it is so dark as to be almost impossible to see. Is there some sort of setting doing this? Please explain in layperson's terms, I don't know coding! My site is ilonabraylit.com.
