I'm not familiar with the plugin. You really don't need a plugin to turn off comments. Just to reiterate, there's a site-wide setting that turns off comments for FUTURE posts/pages. If you already have posts/pages published, you'll need to turn comments off manually for each item on their respective edit screens. If you don't see the option to turn off comments on the edit page, click "screen options" and make sure all comment-related boxes are checked.

For the slider, I recommend creating a "slider" category to control which posts appear in that space.

I didn't get anywhere with WP but found a plugin "Disable comments" Do you know anything about it?

Also, Is it possible to keep the slider images instead of them updating as new posts are added?

yes. I replied by email showing what my screens look like. A discussion option was not listed on screen options. I appreciate your patience! I am new to this obviously. Any suggestions?

WordPress version- sorry I did not clarify

If it's for the WordPress version, don't worry, comments can be turned off (they are controlled by WordPress, not the theme). As mentioned in the thread I linked to, if you don't see the dialogue box, you can turn it on by clicking "screen options" and checking the box to display discussion options... http://www.themolitor.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/screen_settings.png

Thank you for your prompt response! Unfortunately, my screen does not have these options. Perhaps there has been an update since then? My concern is if comments cannot be turned off on this theme because it has the blog aspect, I will need to find another theme which I do not want to do.
