Category pages do support additional text using the Category Description box on the category edit page ;-)

Also, you may be able to find/search a plugin that allows you to select category pages as the front page.

Thanks Chris - I understand now.

I was hoping to have a page - other than the home page - to display the map and still have a text box but obviously a category in the menu item can't display text like selecting the front page options in theme settings.

All good though - now I know :-) Appreciate your help.

The page you created ("Projects"), is not a map listing page. Pages/posts only display a single location, not a full listing of posts. You'll want to link to a category page to display a post listing. Like this: http://create2350.com.au/category/projects/

I am having an issue creating an alternate home page. When I do, the original 'map' page doesn't function correctly. For example the current site functions correctly at: http://create2350(dot)com.au/

When I create a different home page and link to the map page below, the map doesn't work as it should. Please see here: http://create2350(dot)com.au/projects/
