What things would cause an error in the map data (beyond the verifications I've done already)?

I had two that had a suite # at the end of address 1, but I removed them. That's the only thing I can find.

Each blog posts is categorized as Locations > North America and the theme options has the 'blog' category selected.

Sounds like its something simple, but just can't see anything at all.

Hi there,

When there are posts without map data/errors, the content stops loading after it encounters an issue with a post.

For example, if you have post #3 with errors, posts #4, #5, #6 etc... will not load.

Make sure you specified a category for the blog in the theme options drop down. Also, make sure if you have any blog posts that they are properly categorized for the blog category and not in ANY map-related categories.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response Chris. Here is what it's doing - I have 9 posts (including the statue of liberty one that I imported from dummy content), each I have double checked the lat/long coordinates and that it has the full address in address line 1&2.

What the site is displaying is only the most recent 5 posts made (all again, map data verified.)

So there is two problems:

1. Why are not all the posts showing on the map.
2. Why if they are all verified is the red circle defaulting to france, and when I click through the 5 that are showing, why does the map not navigate to those locations.

Is there any setting this could be other than map data (if map data is simply, coordinates + full address?)

Thanks,

Trevor

@genesismedia

If your home page centers on France (i.e. the middle of the map), this means you have posts on your map without map data.

Any post without map data should be in the category you specify in the theme options panel for the blog.

Chris, I too have the issue of the map defaulting to France (again, this default location can be changed via gmap php, however,) I have added 8 posts with proper addresses and latitude and longitude and only 5 show in the footer navigation, and clicking next doesn't navigate to the location pins.

http://www.en-garde.com/map

Hi there,

I logged in and put a handful of posts in "draft" status. The map now works. As I've said a few times now, this means one of your posts (or more) that I put in "draft" status has errors. You need to review EACH of these posts and double-check for errors.

Hi there,

This means you have posts on your map without map data (or with improper map data). Just be sure to check and make sure you're properly entering map data for all posts.

The fact that all posts disappear when you add a post means something is wrong with that specific post. This is not a theme-related issue as the map is displaying posts.

A lot of users have this same problem and it is always the result of a post on the map not having proper map data.

Also, make sure you don't have any non-map posts in the map category. This theme supports a blog feature that doesn't use the map. If you have posts in the blog category, make sure it isn't also in a map-related category.

At this point, this is a user-based issue, so I don't have any code-based edits and changes to make.

Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

Chris

you: Just want to clarify something... When you say "all posts disappear", are you meaning they don't show in your post listing in the WordPress dashboard or they just aren't showing on the map (and still exist in your WordPress admin post list)?
me : pheraps I badly explained before, the articles are in my dashboard and all data are present, lat and long included. At the star I inserted articles one by one controlled whenever, I posted 20 articles and all showing wel on the map, when I inserted the last articles (21°) all disappeared from the maps and also the little windows showing only the last articles and the numbering showing 1 articles also.
So I refresh all but nothing appened, I changed the date but nothing, so yesterday when you didn't answer me, I did make another thing, I post a new article and miracle it was showing on the map and all info, so I was very happy and I inserted the second...ahhhhhhh! When I controlled the home page was the same thing all disappeared.
Do you understand that this thing they depend from your theme?
Anyway, if you are a formidable programmer, the question is simple for you and solvable in minutes, for this reason I sent you, in private e-mail, all data access for admin, ftp and mysql.
Yourself told me that OptionTree was caused of problems, but I didn't know because in tour video you are showing installation still. You said me to clean the data base wp-options but I am not able to do this.
Now you have full access to my web site and controls, see please see if I tell you right.
Chris, please let's be friends.
Massimo

Chris
the theme have problems as you tell me in another post because I installed OptionTree plugin as you are showing in the video on themeforest. so I post 20 posts without problem, when I posted the last (21) all disappeared, it is evident that the problems was caused from the plugin as you confirm me. so browse in you private e-mail and with data access will solve the problem, please.

Hi there,

The theme doesn't have any control over your database. Loss of content is not something that this theme, nor I as the theme developer, has any control of, so there is no way it was caused by something within the theme or from my code. Content is 100% controlled by your WordPress installation and stored in your database.

This is something you'll need to resolve with your hosting provider as there isn't anything I can do for you. This is not an issue involving the theme. In other words, this would have happened independent of the theme you were using.

I sincerely hope you understand.

Thanks!
