So I think your confused on what "checked" means the plugin you have installed makes the actually Widget hidden or shown on that page when checked not what is actually displayed on the page. if you want to hide different posts/pages you'll need to use a different plugin or widget which goes beyond the scope of this forum

oh and the same thing is happening with my pages widget - all the catergories are appearing when they are unchecked.

Hi yes thanks, it's happening on a catagorie widget, which i've called blog, and yep i have it unchecked. the posts appearing that i don't want are on a slider catogorie and sponser catorgorie which isn't parented to anything. here is the webpage - http://aggiesgrannies.co.uk/

it also happened on the recent post widget which i also had unchecked but i deleted this catorgorie because i thought maybe recent post meant all post and perhaps that was overriding my selelection.

within my widget of catergories and also recent posts - whether i have them checked or not - all the catergories appear...
