changing the code like I mentioned above also in script.php and page.php fixed it. This may be an issue for anyone with godaddy or a host that has allow_url_fopen set to off.

So, if I make a new post and do not include the lat/long in it when I publish it, it breaks the home page map. If I then go back and add the lat/long, that does not fix it. If I make a new post and DO include the lat/long the first time, everything works.

Ideas?

With some hosts it is on by default. With godaddy, which I'm using for this site, it is off by default. I can change it in the php.ini file, but with security risk. I have a lot of sites hosted on that server and it is possible that there's code that would cause a vulnerability somewhere on one of those sites, and I don't want to mess with it.

The location data is accurate on all of the posts.

Hi there,

Regarding the link, notice how it says "allow_url_fopen is on by default".

Regarding your home page, I haven't seen these issues before, so I'm honestly not sure what is going on. Seems to be some kind of error. I'm wondering if your hosting provider has some configurations that are causing issues. Unfortunately I can't provide much support when the issues are related to custom configurations by a hosting company.

My best suggestion is to review each of your posts to make sure the location data is accurate.

Let me know if that helps at all.

Best,

Chris

Any input on the home page issue I'm having?

Thanks for following up!

I'm curious about the security risks you mentioned. I haven't heard that. This has been a default setting for every hosting account I've seen (hence why I've never seen this issue before).

Best,

$geocode = file_get_contents

to

$geocode = curl_get_contents

and add the script:

<?php

function curl_get_contents($url)

    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);

Hi there,

I haven't seen this before. I see this message "disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0" indicates this issue is related to your server configuration.

My best suggestion is to contact your hosting provider to see if they can either change this setting or provide more information about what it means.

Let me know what they say.

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I've looked through the posts on here and haven't found an answer. I hope I'm not asking a question that's already been answered.

I just updated to the most recent version, 2.2.5. I noticed that the map was not showing on the index page, I've chosen to show a most recent posts.

I saw that I need to choose a category to show the map and pins. I would like to show all posts in the parent category "Locations" and another category, but it will display nothing. I have my site set up with several parent categories. It only displays a map and pins if I choose a state or "hotels".

Thanks!
