I can't exactly remember doing this, but it looks like in Index.php I changed code from:

<h2>"><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<div class="metaInfo"><?php the_time('F j, Y') ?> / <?php comments_popup_link('No Comments ››', '1 Comment ››', '% Comments ››'); ?></div>
</div><!--end title-->

To:
<h2>"><?php the_title(); ?></h2>
<p><?php the_excerpt(); ?> </p>
<div class="metaInfo"><?php the_time('F j, Y') ?></div>
</div><!--end title-->
