I hope you can help me.

I would like to add a windows/text in the home page, in order to explain a bit what the site is about. Is it possible?
I read somewhere here in the forum that i can set a page as my home page from the reading settings. But if i set a static page, also if it has all the geolocation details, the home doesn't show any map, but the custom background image.
