Hi there,

I see that you're using a plugin called "wp custom category pages". This is likely the cause of the issue you're having.

Go ahead and deactivate that plugin to see if it goes back to normal.

Best,

Hi Christopher,

I'm having a lot of trouble with getting the cast and crew page looking like the demo. I've watched the video walk throughs, read the literature that was with the file, and even tried to import the demo content and edit it from there and it isn't working out for me.

I believe that I have the category page set up properly, and each post is an aside post, as well as given the proper category but it still isn't looking right.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Here is the link to the site: http://troublefilm.com/index.php/category/cast-crew/

Thanks,

Hi there,

Just to clarify...

1. The built-in menu system gives you 100% control of links that appear in the menu. This is the intended method and is the approach displayed on the demo site. You can control the built-in menu from the "menus" section on the Customize page.

2. If you want to use widgets for your menu, you'll need to use the "Custom Menu" widget as the other widgets will restrict the type of links that are displayed (i.e. "Pages" widget only shows pages and "Categories" widget only shows categories, etc.).

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Christopher

Hi there,

Couple things...

1. Your opacity setting for the background is "1", which makes it black.

2. Your using the "pages" widget, which does not show category pages. In other words, the "cast and crew" link on your site is a page, not a category.

Hope that helps!

Best,

Hi Chirs,

I'm still having trouble setting up my Cast and Crew page. I (think I) have followed the steps correctly, in that I have made the Cast and Crew category, added the category to the menu, and attributed the aside post to the category, but still can't get it working

Much appreciated,

Yes, this is the correct way to link to category pages. Sorry if that was hard to figure out. I do have a screenshot that shows which links are pages/categories in the documentation and I also have a video linked that goes into more detail about the WordPress menu system.

HI again and thanks for the response. Yes I got that. I created 6 posts wine the videoormat and checked them with the same category. In my menu i then added the category page. So when i click on the category page the age opens but only shows one video. The text with the plus sign is totally fine with me but i want all the six videos to be seen immediately like in your example. But on my page I always see one video only and have to click a plus sign to make all the 6 videos appear.

@KaiSchmitz

I'm not sure I understand.

Just to clarify, the "Videos 2" page is a standard category page. It will display any posts in that category. Posts with different "Post Formats" will display differently. For the "aside" post formats, the entire post content displays with a "+" sign to view the extra content.

Does that helps at all? If not, please clarify the issue you're having.

Hi Christopher, I did set up my videos like in your example for "videos-2".
So far I got everything right. Simply the different posts are not unfolded like in your example with the arrow navigation. I shows a single post with the option to unfold the others clicking a plus sign. How can I fix this so that when people reach my category page they see that there is actually some more content already unfolded.

Thanks Kai
