Hi,

First, I want to say thank you for such an amazing theme! I love the layout and features. I am however, having great difficulty with the whole images/gallery aspect of the theme. I am trying to create something similar to what this site has: http://look-la.com/#!press-editorial on my website: http://supernovapr.com/press-and-clients/press/.

I have read through so many of these responses on the forum that now I am utterly confused as how to:
1. Upload images to a gallery
2. How to have multiple "image stacks" on one gallery page

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the input. I'll get back to you with an online link for the background images. I'm first gonna await feedback from my client regarding the template. This was sort of a preparation for me to see what's possible and can be done with the template ;)

Hi there,

Removing images from the gallery tab is done on a post-by-post basis as the image needs to be attached/uploaded to the post it's showing on. This means if you want the same image to be shown on more than one post, you need to upload it to each of those posts.

Regarding background, that method is used so that the top area of the home page can have the default background and the slider area can have a custom background. It's really difficult to troubleshoot the issue you're having without a link as I'm unable to recreate the scenario where the custom background doesn't appear.

Regarding the WP gallery shortcode, try adding this to your custom CSS panel...

.gallery-item img,
.entry .gallery a,
.entry .gallery a img {border:none !important; background: none !important;}

let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

Chris

Regarding the background image: I noticed jQuery loads both images and the default one from theme settings is always loaded after. Viewing the source, I see the loading script below happens for both, with the default one at the bottom of the page, after custom.js and the custom for the page is placed above the bottompanel div.

<script>
jQuery.noConflict(); jQuery(document).ready(function(){

	var view = jQuery(window);

 view.load(function(){
 var customBg = jQuery('.activeTab').children('span').text();
 jQuery('#sliderContainer').backstretch(customBg,{speed:1000});
 jQuery.backstretch("/bg_example.jpg", {speed:1000});
 })
	});
</script>

Hi Chris,

Regarding the gallery, with this method the problem is that we can't remove an image from a gallery without completely deleting it from the medialibrary (e.g. when use the image on different locations it could be troublesome). I understand the ordening and how to add.

I'm still testing locally, so I can't provide a link, but I'm using your imports to test everything, so no tweaks yet. A custom background for a page (in this case I tried it with the about) fades out and gets overridden with the general background image. I think the problem lies in the z-index. They both appear in the source like this (using inspect element), the one above is my custom one:

<div style="left: 0px; top: 0px; overflow: hidden; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; height: 1012px; width: 1434px; z-index: -999999; position: fixed;" class="backstretch"><img src="blabla/DSC075881.jpg" style="position: absolute; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: medium none; width: 1799.11px; height: 1012px; max-width: none; z-index: -999999; left: -182.556px; top: 0px;"></div>
<div style="left: 0px; top: 0px; overflow: hidden; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; height: 1012px; width: 1434px; z-index: -999999; position: fixed;" class="backstretch"><img src="blabla/bg_example.jpg" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: medium none; height: 1012px; max-width: none; z-index: -999999; left: -61.4615px; top: 0px; width: 1556.92px;"></div>

In your example online I see only
<img src="http://themes.themolitor.com/producer/files/2012/09/crew.jpg" id="loadImg">

Regarding the look of a WP gallery in other pages, here's a screenshot from what I get: http://postimg.org/image/99fvahned/

Notice the gray rectangles and they become white when hovering

Thanks for your reply

Hi there,

The gallery feature works by looking for images attached to the current post. Images get attached to the post when they are uploaded from that post's edit page. You don't have to create/insert a gallery as that is all done for you automatically.

To prevent images from appearing in the post gallery, simply upload them from the media upload page (not the post edit page) so that they don't get attached to the post. You can then insert images into the post content if you want, without the images appearing in the gallery.

To control the images that appear in your gallery, please review this FAQ: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/faq-how-to-change-the-order-of-images-in-wp-gallery

Regarding the normal WP gallery and background images, can you provide a link? I'll take a look.

Thanks!

Chris

likewise I find it confusing with the background images. They seem to be overridden by the default one set in the theme options, while it should be the page background image overriding the default one, no? :)

Hi,

As a very experienced user of WP, I'm confused with the images and gallery. Where in other themes there's usually a custom field for it, here it seems to be messing with the core WP gallery functionality.
Your documentation shows screenshots of an older WP version, which adds to the confusion.

As of how I see it now, it's like I need to insert a WP gallery and remove it afterwards from the post textarea (otherwise it displays also in the synopsis). But then after, I have no visual reference anymore for my gallery. Could you provide a step by step to add and remove images from the gallery according to the current WP version? I can select them now by viewing images uploaded to this post...but how do I delete them from my gallery (and NOT from my library)?

Also, adding a regular WP gallery in a simple page shows strange behaviour. I get rectangles behind the image highlighting on rollover.
Clicking on such a gallery image displays me a header with the filename, only when scroll down i see the image.

I understand it's a custom theme, but my hair starts shaking a bit when I notice core functionality doesn't work as it should anymore :)

Thanks in advance for your feedback on this.
