Hi there,

Thanks for following up! Sounds like a caching issue. That wouldn't be something theme related.

Best,

Update: I looked at this again a couple of hours later and it's now working ok in Chrome. Why would there be a delay like this?

Anyway, all good for now. Thanks for your help!

Cheers

Hi Chris, thanks good to know I don't need to keep adding these customizations in after updates.

Regarding the responsive theme issue in Chrome and Safari, I added: .cn_preview {float: left;}

Chrome: It works while I'm logged into admin mode, but when I log out, it's still faulty.
Safari: Working fine now

Cheers

Hi there,

1. No, not if you add it to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page.

2. Try adding the following to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

.cn_preview {float: left;}

Let me know if that helps.

Best,

Hi Chris, I did respond to your last email on the 15th, but I didn't get a response back. So I'll post the email here as well.

1. Yes the custom css fix worked for the top border. Will I need to apply this fix every time I upgrade The Daily Press?

2 & 3. I've tested the misalignment issue on the front page categories further. I don't see any secondary sidebar issue at this point so let's ignore that and move on to the responsive theme issue (point 4 below).

Ok so this is what I've done:

- Turned on Responsive Theme option
- Insert Secondary Sidebar is off

I then tested with Chrome browser and Safari across Ipad and Iphone. I also tested Chrome, IE, Safari and Firefox on the desktop:

1. Chrome and Safari on the Ipad, work fine. In landscape mode, the full size is in view, turn it into landscape mode and the theme reconfigures correctly into a two column mode as expected.

2. Chrome and Safari on the Iphone, also work fine, reconfiguring into the single column mode.

3. IE and Firefox on the desktop, when resizing the viewport they reconfigure and rescale as expected down to mobile phone 1 column view, then reconfigured correctly when the viewport is resized larger back to full size. So they work fine, with no misalignment issues.

4. Chrome browser and Safari on the desktop both display the issue. When resizing the viewport from a full page view downwards the misalignment issue appears (refer to pic 1 in the email I sent). When the viewport size is increased to full size, the misalignment remains (see pic 2 in the email I sent) and will only correct with a refresh.

I've left the Responsive theme option on, so you can test this yourself at: http://mtmawson.info/

Let me know what you think?

Hi there,

1. I don't see the main top banner bar on your site (that spans the entire width of the window. I think what you're referring to is the top border for the header. You can remove that by adding the following to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

#header {border-top:none;}

2. Try adding this to your Custom CSS box on the Customize page...

#secondarySidebar {display: none !important;}

3. Let me know if the above helps with this.

Best,

1. Ok, I did that and there's no change, tried twice. The black top bar remains. I also tried turning the Top Left menu on, saving changes and then turning off, saving changes. It's still there. This is a bug isn't it, surely the black bar shouldn't remain when the top left menu option is turned off in the theme options??

2. Yes I did click save and publish and double checked a couple of times. In addition, I just went through the procedure again, with the same result. I can provide you with a link, but as I mentioned, I switched off the responsive theme options in order to make it properly useable for my viewers. I'm reluctant to turn that on again for any length of time just so you can view it though? http://mtmawson.info/ Can I turn it on again and send you a screen shot perhaps, rather than submit my users to a broken site?

3. The same misalignment happens with the above option. I don't want the small sidebar option at the moment, perhaps later on though.

Hi there,

1. In the thread you're referring to, you said you already removed the content, so Chris K. was telling you that you still needed to remove the containing divs. Those divs always has additional code because that's where the top menu options are controlled. If you're still not using the menus, you just need to remove the entire
topBannerContainer
div (and all its contents).

2. I can confirm the theme options are working. Are you sure you clicked "save & publish" at the top? If so, can you provide a link to your site?

3. Does it look different than the demo site? If so, can you provide a link to your site?

Best,

Chris

Hi Chris, I've just upgraded to the latest version of The Daily Press and I have three issues I need to fix.

1. Approx. a year ago, I had this same issue. After an upgrade, a black bar appeared across the top of the browser viewport. At the time you recommended the following, which fixed the issue:

Open up the header.php and remove:

<div id="topBannerContainer">
<div id="topBanner">
</div><!--end topBanner-->
</div>

This time when I looked at that code snippet, I noticed there was some additional code there. What should I do please? and can this be fixed permanently so I don't have to keep doing a hack when I upgrade?

2. The theme's customize options seem to be buggy. I had it set to responsive theme on, with the "Display Small Sidebar" option off. It's still inserting the small sidebar when a browser window is wide.

3. With the responsive theme option on with the "Display Small Sidebar" option either on or off, when I resize the browser window smaller, the front page category entries are greatly misaligned (they're pushed down the page).

I've reset the customize options with both the responsive theme and display small sidebar off, for the time being, but it would be nice to have the responsive theme option working correctly. More and more of our users are accessing the site with mobile devices. Is there anything that can be done?

Cheers

Bishwa
