Christopher -
Thanks for the helpful reply. Everything looks good now that I am using a workaround for the Gallery/ZoomBox issue.

I found the custom CSS from the previous theme version that caused the top of the map to be hidden on Mobile devices. I was able to keep custom header transparency, but resolve the map positioning problem.

I also had "Projects" category listed as the Blog category. Creating a "Featured" category and setting it as the Blog category solved the issue of how it displayed with a background image instead of a map.

I had already edited script.php to display satellite image on main page, but read farther down the thread and edited script_list.php to set the satellite as default on categories.

Deleting the default background image in the Customization panel now allows the satellite map to display in as a background on the "Featured" blog category.

I hope a future release will add the satellite map option as a custom setting under Customize > Map Settings. This will make theme updates so much cleaner! Adding a map center lat/lon would also be a great feature.

Thanks again for your great support!

Hi there,

Thanks for following up!

1. Category pages should not show a background image (unless it's the blog category you have selected on the Customize page). By default they should show the map, but to change it to satellite view, please follow these steps: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/use-satellite-view-by-default-for-main-map

2. I'm seeing the full map when in portrait mode on mobile devices when viewing the demo site. Looking at your site, I see some design elements appear to be from previous versions of the theme (transparent header, etc). Have you made edits to the theme to retain these previous settings? If so, this is the reason you're not seeing the updated layout/design.

Please compare your site to the demo for reference: http://themes.themolitor.com/wpnavigator

Best,

Christopher

I've got workarounds to address ZoomBox issues.

Biggest issues are:

1- How to display Satellite Map as background on location category pages instead of default background image

2- Background map or image is partially hidden behind menu bar in mobile devices ( in Safari and Chrome on iOS on iPhone and on iPad in portrait mode. This hides the map selection box for mobile users.

Update to issues - Because this is a production site, I've implemented some time consuming workarounds while waiting for a reply

1 - I've commented out the Galley toggle section from single-post.php. I installed Jetpack, and edited each post to replace all navigator galleries with new WordPress thumbnail grid galleries. These work with Carousel navigation and gallery options. It also makes it easy for the owner to update and reorder gallery images in the visual editor.

2- In editing all posts, I copied the legacy location data to the new map location data fields. This made did not affect how category of posts are displayed from the menu link. All posts have updated location fields, but they still appear with the default background image and a blog format. ( even the Projects category - it only displays a roadmap as a background if I delete the default background image from Custom theme options.

The demo theme on Themeforest on which I based my decision to upgrade appears to be 2.2.3 NOT the current version. It shows both locations with maps by category AND a "Blog" link.

3- If I do use a Blog format, how can I change the background image for different categories from the Default image background. I should be able to define different backgrounds for Residential, Commercial, and Art categories.

I expected this to be a pretty straightforward theme Upgrade, with improvements to legacy features. So far I've had to make a number of changes to functions.php, page.php, and single-post.php to maintain functionality and most key features. I'm sure these will complicate future theme updates.

I realize that you are working hard to develop, maintain, and support a number of new themes, and that WP keeps changing.

Please take time to provide support for the excellent Navigator theme. Despite these issues, it is still the best location-based theme I've found.

Thanks

I added a default image to the Customization > General options. That image now displays on the blog format for each of the subcategories in the menu. However; I would like to be able to have a map display instead of an image, as it did for categories in the old version of the theme and in the theme demo where locations are organized by country or region.

Do I need to copy legacy location data to the new location fields for all posts in a category for a category link to display properly as a map??

I would also like to be able to specify the map center. With the new theme version's capability of displaying page content on top of the home page map, it would be nice to be able to place the map center so that the majority of map points display offset to the right of page center.

Chris, first I want to thank you for a great theme! I've been using it for several years since v1.4 on client's architectural design site. He loves it ( http://l64design.com ). I had had updated critical files to 1.5.2

We discussed a possible redesign to a more responsive design, and he needed to be able to update image galleries more easily. I showed him the updated demo of the Navigator theme with its responsive menus and maps, and assured him that the theme was well supported and documented, and it appeared to be keeping up with changes in WP. I assumed that your changes in the lightbox plugin from PrettyPhoto to ZoomBox would address needed changes to work perfectly with WP 4.3.1

I backed up files and database and installed the new theme according to support forum documentation. I updated theme settings from the old Option Tree to new customizations. I read lots of forum posts to discover how to display the missing legacy location information for 38 active posts, and how to restore the home page category and change default view from map to satellite. I still have the following issues:

1 - Zoombox is not working as a replacement lightbox for existing gallery sections (I reported details here: http://www.themolitor.com/forums/topic/zoom-box-plugin-by-the-molitor ) - This is mission critical for this site. The demo site works on Themeforest, but appears to still be using Pretty Photo. ( Zoombox with Gallery images is even worse in iOS on iPhone and in portrait view on iPad. footer content scrolls over image. )

2- Search icon does not show up in Main menu

3. Only the "Projects" Category link in menu will display a map background, and it is in Map rather than Satellite view. The subcategory menus (Residential, Commercial, and Misc.) display a blank background. In Safari and Chrome iOS on iPhone and iPad in portrait mode, the top of the content is obscured by the header on the categories that don't display a map.

How can I have each "blog" category in the menu display an appropriate map background in Satellite View? (in Previous version the category map showed like home page, included a Category Description in a box rather than a "blog" format)

Please address these issues soon. I have the site live, and would prefer not to revert back to the legacy theme.
