Hi. I just had another thought. My WordPress install is brand new, as of June 15. It is version 3.4. Are your theme and the option tree compatible with it? Should I use an older version of WordPress? Thanks.

Well. I went back to the instructions and this time I found the slider instructions...so I followed them and it still didn't work. So I read the forums and found the fix of disabling JetPack, and I did that. The result is that I can see one of my slider images, but not the other, and now I have not only lost my nice widgets, but my Contact Us form doesn't work. So if I am going to use this theme at all, I will need a Contact Us form. Is there one installed that I haven't found? There is a lovely one in the psd file in the footer. Is this one available to me, and if so, what is it called?

Hi. I just bought WP Politico today, and I am trying to set up the site. But I can't get the slider to work at all. I have tested it by adding two images as posts and giving them the category of slider. How to set up the slider is not covered at all in the help files that I got, and there are no links to the walkthroughs, so I am very frustrated! The website is ammonsforcouncil.com

Thanks!

Original problem: slider not working; only loading first slide
Actual problem: php error in footer.php

There is an error (several) in the footer.php file. The closing if statements in the social div section are <? } ?> and should be <?php } ?>.

Once I replaced every occurrence, the footer loaded. The javascript for the slider is in the footer. The footer was not loading, therefore, the slider was not working.

I am running WordPress 3.3, Politico 1.1 on an IIS server.

Chris . . .

So frustrating. I hear what you're saying, but . . . I have no plugins installed (let alone activated) other than the ones that seem to be required for this theme: Contact Form 7, Option Tree, wp-page navi. And, everything worked fine before.

I have no custom html widgets that I know of.

I have turned footer widgets off.

I have gone through theme option setup at least a dozen times.

It's still a mystery as to why it suddenly isn't working.

And, the slider will always show the latest dated post. I can go change the date on any slider post and it will show up in the slider, but that one only.

Hi Tom,

There are a number of factors that can cause the slider to not work. This includes...

conflicting scripts being run by plugins

errors in custom HTML in widgets

not properly configuring the theme options panel

I noticed you don't have any footer widgets, but that section is turned on. Please turn it off if you don't plan on using footer widgets. Also, try deactivating any additional plugins you have installed to see if they might be causing the problem.

Unfortunately this issues isn't caused by the theme itself, so it's just a matter of us finding out what might be wrong/missing with your setup.

Thanks!

Hey Justin . . .

Juste tried that, and it did not work. I currently have two new posts under that category, each with a correctly sized photo, and the slider will still only show which-ever post has the latest date. I can edit the published date on either post to make it the 'newest' post, and then only that one will show in the slider. I have tried all other of the 4 solutions you proposed in your last pot.

I'm just curious . . if changing the 'number of items' to 4 had worked when I only have two posts, why? And what would I have had to set it at if I had had three posts . . . 6, or left it at 4?

Try this:

1) Go to Appearance > Theme Options
2) Go down to "Number of Items"
3) Type in 4

This should be the fix. I apologize for not having it for you before, it was a misstep in my review of your issue.

I've been trying some of this to no avail. FRUSTRATED. I just saw that there were two other threads on this same subject . . . slider only showing latest dated 'slider' post, but neither of those threads ever posted the solution, even though they said they were resolved. What were the fixes?

1. I have not messed too much with the images sizes yet, but I will go try some new making sure to match the size. However, no matter the size, I can get whichever post is dated most recent to show up (only) in the slider regardless of image size.

2. I have no such item uner 'Settings>Reading> . . . ' There is no 'Display Posts __' choice.

3. I tried this, and no go. Still acts the same.

Here are a couple questions that may help us solve the issue:

1) What if you upload an image that is the correct size?
2) What does it say when you go to Settings > Reading > Display Posts ___ ?
3) Have you tried designating a different category for the slider?

Let me know about these and hopefully it'll narrow the issue down.

Thanks,
Justin

okay . . .
yeah, the history gets a little complicated. But, here's the site:
http://www.klickitatrepublicans.org
on the home page, you can see the dual slider and one of the posts with photo. i have added other posts to the 'slider' category, but none will show up. I even deleted the other posts, and added just one more (two total), but only whatever post is the newest one in the slider category will show up. If I go manually change the dates using the edit tool on the posts page of the dashboard, whatever post I set as the newest (most recent) date will show on the slider, but no other. What the heck?

Sven - please post a link to your site. I'm having a tough time following along with what's wrong. It sounds like posts in the slider category show up?

R11110000 - I'm seeing your post in the slider area just fine. What happens when you add another slide? Without seeing it I won't be able to troubleshoot.

Thanks,
Justin

UPDATE: I was able to fix the subtext box by deleting my first page linked to my menu and just creating a new page from scratch. Not to sure what happened honestly but it fixed it. My slider still doesn't allow me to show multiple posts. Any help would be great! Thanks again for the great theme. http://LibertarianPoliticalParty.com

Hello,
I am sorry to say that this comment is also asking for help. My slider images all of a sudden stopped showing up. I am still a little new to word press but I had them up last night (1st day of the theme) and then all of a sudden I lost them. I am thinking it is just a minor error on my part but would love any help you may be able to bring. Thanks and killer theme btw. I plan to rate it 5 stars.

Wow . . . here's my update: I worked for quite a while (6 different phone calls to GoDaddy) with my hosting site and went full circle on a number of 'issues' they thought were off. Everything went down for a while, but all is back up now. Essentially, all we achieved was to get the permissions straightened out on the wp-uploads folder (and a few other account issues).

Now, I am still left with the situation where my slider images will not show up . . . only the latest (newest) of the posts in the slider category. What gives. I eliminated all posts, and added/remade just two, and checked the values in the Theme Options (using Dual Slider with 2 images and slider set as category there) and still only whichever slider post is the newest will display, not forward and back arrows.

Please advise.

hello . . . suddenly today, my slider images (there are only two) are not showing up. When I go to my media library, and select 'view' under the image icon, the following message shows up:

Home »
Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in D:\Hosting\3131805\html\wp-content\themes\wppolitico\functions.php on line 78

I see that there are a couple of plugin updates available (including the pagenavi). I really am just wondering where to go for help . . . The Molitor for theme help, or WP for structure help, or Godaddy for hosing help. Please help if you can.

Thanks
