Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback.

If you're only making CSS adjustments, I don't recommend using child themes. Those are really only intended to be used for template adjustments to the theme.

I created a Custom CSS box on the customize page, so I encourage you to use that space instead.

Best,

Chris

Well - one would expect that the theme would work even when ALL customization in a child theme is disabled and the child theme simply inherits all style from the master theme. One ought to expect at least so much.

If I cannot use a child theme with the slider in all browsers I will simply have to fork the theme (copy everything to a new theme which is an identical copy of the original, but with the desired css etc), which of course I can, but pretty much spoils the idea of using child themes in WordPress at all.

However, thank you very much for your time, Chris. I do realize you cannot dive into every aspect, but I would say this is one aspect I think would be worth your time investigating, if it can be reproduced by others. The slider is important for the theme, and it is important that it works across browsers, also in child themes.

Hi there,

Unfortunately the use of child themes is considered a customization as you're customizing and changing elements of the default theme, which works in said browsers.

As a result, I'm not able to troubleshoot customizations. I hope you understand. If all you're changing is the CSS of the theme, have you tried using the Custom CSS panel on the customize page? If not, give that a try with the main theme and not the child theme.

Also, please keep in mind there are limitations with child theme development. You can review those here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Best,

Chris

Sorry no luck :-(

I've tried deactivating every file in the child theme, including all the styles in the style.css and nothing changes. The slider simply doesn't load the images but keep the "spinning wheel" icon forever, in Chrome and Safari. Have not tested Explorer yet.

I even deleted all files and deactivated all css except the "@import url ('../wpaid/style.css');" in the child theme - still the same problem persists.

Switching to the mother theme makes the slider work again in said browsers, but of course ruins the custom css.

Seems this is a general problem related to the theme and the use of child themes in said browsers? Otherwise I can't see what I do wrong!!

I was afraid you might say that. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Seems it is related to the child theme.

Hi there,

Latest version works in all browsers. It must be something specific to your setup. Please deactivate additional plugins. If you made customizations to template files, please retrace or undo those edits.

Let me know if that has any impact. Also, please keep in mind I do not actively monitor the forums on the weekend.

Thanks!

Chris

Please see http://retsforbundet.dk to verify the problem (now this is the third time I write this - first I couldn't edit the post because the post was "too old" - now I "move too fast"... - every time I lose this text - slightly annoying - and why? I just try to supply additional information!)

I have trouble getting the slider images to show in Safari - both on iPad and Mac.
I suspect the problem is related to the recent upgrade of the theme. Previously we had no problems.

Any ideas how to fix this?
