That's what it should look like. Images get attached to the post when they are uploaded from the post edit page (not when they are inserted into the post content). Simply uploading images is the method that attaches them to the post.

Even if you do insert them into the post content AFTER uploading, the theme will remove those from the content and display the images in the theme-generated gallery layout.

Does that help explain why the gallery shows on the front-end even when you don't see them in the post content box?

I understand perfectly. See the images below. I had, up until this one post, successfully utilized the theme default for gallery posts. The images below show what I am talking about. The post content is empty for this post. I have no clue why. I don't know how the images are showing up when they aren't there. Unless they are somehow attached to the post in a different way. Everything was fine up until this particular post.

I don't understand what's going on, but hopefully it won't happen on another post. I have deleted this post and edited it enumerable times and don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Just to clarify...

When you insert a WordPress gallery into the post content for a post that has the "Gallery" post type applied, that gallery is removed from the front-page and replaced by the gallery that is generated by the theme.

All other post types will display the WordPress gallery like normal.

Well, I got it to work, but I can't see the images inside the post. Only when I look at the page. I don't get it. I can see the images in a gallery in all of my other posts, but not the one referenced.

I definitely uploaded the images from the actual post edit page. I've posted a ton of other posts of this same type with no trouble. I have no idea why all of a sudden the gallery isn't showing up.

The gallery post format uses images that uploaded/attached to the post. This is all done automatically. The normal WordPress gallery system is not used, so for gallery posts, the theme looks for WordPress gallery shortcodes and takes it out of the post before displaying the page.

From what I see in your screenshots, it looks like you're creating a WordPress gallery using images that are not attached/uploaded to the post you want them to display in. To fix this, be sure to upload the images from the actual post edit page you want them to appear on.

Here are screenshots. You can see the gallery in the edit post screen but it doesn't show up on the page.

The gallery still doesn't show up at all on my newest post. please help. thank you. I am happy to post screenshots if necessary.

I have successfully posted many gallery type posts previously and for some reason today, the galleries I try to add aren't showing up.

I have checked the old posts to compare and make sure all of my settings are the same, and they are. I can't figure it out. Please help.
