I understand, Chris... but I've set the reading page so that the default post shown should be the most recent post, but it still shows an empty page, except for the right hand column.

How do you assign a default post or page so tat it is the first thing you see when you call the website?

Regarding the login page, the text you write will only appear when you're logged into your site from that browser.

Regarding the subscribe page, it's appearing as it should for me in FireFox, Chrome and Safari. Maybe clear your cache in the browser it isn't appearing on?

Regarding the menu, be sure to assign the menus on your menus page. Example: http://themolitor.com/help/dailypress/images/menu.png

http://lacoulisse.ca/enregistrez-vous/ which should have the login template activated. The drop down box is in the middle of page - right hand side. When I select a page template, I assume it should insert the necessary code so that the page reflects this choice, but nothing seems to happen.

BTW - My top of the page bar doesn't contain the page template options, like login, site map, staff list or subscribe... and when I check these off when creating a new page, nothing happens.

The page template options should be available in a drop down menu on the right-hand side of the page edit screen. There are no check boxes for that.

If that doesn't help, please provide a link to a page that is suppose to have a page template applied and I'll take a look.

Regarding the date, you need to also change the .POT file as instructed. Language changes need to be made in the .POT file. Unfortunately I haven't actually translated a theme before, so I can't provide much more instruction than that. Creating the .POT file is the extent of my knowledge for making the theme translation ready. I personally would just Google something like "Translate WordPress theme" and review sources there.

Regarding the page templates, please create a new thread for that (this thread already contains multiple topics) and I'll be happy to troubleshoot with you.

Forget everything that precedes this post. I have retraced my steps and realize I must've made a mistake, so I started this modification over again, and did exactly as you suggested. The result hasn't changed. The date still displays in English - no-matter how the letters are displayed in the code. This is today's date as it appears in the theme : Saturday June 1st, 2013

What I am trying to achieve is : Samedi, le 1 juin, 2013

Another problem I'm having is that the page templates aren't being inserted into the new pages I create, even though I select them.

Scratch what I said in the above post - I screwed up that copy. I used a clean copy to implement what you suggested, but the result is what you see on the first line.

Why is this, and how can I correct?

I wasn't aware the date method had to be included in the .POT file as well. I assumed it was a function-based thing that automatically changed. Reading into it, I see I need to add that to the .POT file.

Here's what you do...

Change the date function in header.php (line 123) to this...

<?php echo date(__('l F jS, Y','themolitor'));?>

Then add the following to the .POT file below the "Subscribe via RSS" section (lines 166-168)...

#: ../header.php:123
msgid "l F jS, Y"
msgstr ""

The above should now sit on lines 170-172 like this: http://s14.postimg.org/pe7udo7q9/pot.png

You can then apply the formatting you want in the .POT file.

Substituting

in place of the

<?php echo date('l F jS, Y');?>

I get it in the right language, but it lists the month first, followed by the date then the year... and I lose the weekday.
In other words, it lists the date as follows:

mai 31, 2013

instead of

Vendredi, le 31 mai, 2013.

Where can I configure this to the proper format?

Hi Chris,

I've succeeded in translating everything into French except the date format, as shown above. I'd like it to read 'Vendredi, le 31 mai, 2013'. I've consulted just about everything that's ever been written on the topic, but I come up empty handed because the theme coding doesn't match the examples in the documentation available to do this... any insights?

Is this where the date and time are hard coded within the template, and if so, what do I need to change to make it show in French? If this is not where it is hard-coded, do you remember where it is indeed coded, so that I may change it to French? It doesn't appear to be something in WP, so I'm assuming it was hard-coded within the theme. Please have a look:

'Daily Press' theme

I've succeeded in translating most of the Daily Post theme, ut I'm left with several tags that I don't know where to find, and these are:

- the day and month tag at the top left hand side of the main page.
- the Follow us invite at the top right hand side of the main page
- the View all tag just below the header

Everything else has pretty much been translated - at least on the public interface. I would like to translate these tags as well, but I don't know where to find them. Would you know, offhand?

The .POT file is included in the themes "languages" folder. Please keep in mind, though, that tags and other elements controlled by WordPress are not in the .POT file as they are not coded into the template files.
