I followed the instructions on making an API so that I can use google maps on the homepage, but when I enter the API in Map Settings on Wordpress and press Publish, nothing shows up. The entire background is completely blank. What is the complete API setup process? Did I miss out on something?

Update: I found the setting that was causing only one point to display, so that part was easily fixed. Under Settings -> Reading -> Blog pages show at most: was somehow set to 1 from the beginning (by previous site developer) and I guess it didn't effect the old version the same as in the new. That's better now.
The other problem is still there however. When I switch back to the old theme, when I look at a location post, it shows all the meta information of the Custom Post Options, but on the updated version, all those fields show blank, even though it still seems to apply to the front end content. Any ideas about porting it over? I'm imagining it's something in the SQL table wp_postmeta within the meta_value field, but I don't know what.. Thanks in advance.

Want to note that when I edit the old blog posts, all the meta fields show blank, but when I view the post, it does show on the map. So at least it's still there, it's just not displaying the filled fields. There is hope, I just hope it doesn't involve going through the thousands of posts to correct. Thanks.

Hi there, we had this theme in use since 2013 for our site FindaSpring.com and we just recently update to the latest version mainly because the Google Map API change.. Got the style customized again and set it all up, was mostly happy after the dust settled, however now all the posts with locations are no longer showing the longitude/latitude in the post meta, and we had hundreds over the years, and now a bit worried about losing all that. Did a database backup just in case, and trying to figure out how to convert or recover that info. Also when I go to a blog category, like California, it only shows one pin point when it used to show all of them. We're a little freaked out about the potential of losing all the submissions since that's the foundation of our site.. I hope there's an easy fix, I can give you a WP admin login or the PHPMyAdmin access if that would make it easier. Thanks a lot, looking forward to getting this resolved...

Hi, I have installed the newest version of the theme to solve issues with API key. I have setup an API key, turned on the options you mention, added a credit card. But my home page shows up blank. The site is http://www.rokytnice-virtualne.cz/

The Google Map API checker says:
SUCCESS: Woohoo! This site is correctly using an API key when loading the Maps JavaScript API v3.

INFO: We could not find a visible Google Map within 2 seconds of loading the page. To optimize performance, only load the Maps JavaScript API if you plan on using the API.

Hi there,

Looks like you have an https site accessing http content. You'll need to adjust the following "
http
" references to say "
https
"...

In header.php on line 23...

if(!empty($googleKeyword)) { $googleKeyEdited = str_replace(" ", "+", $googleKeyword); echo '<link href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family='.$googleKeyEdited.'" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />'; }

...and on line 54...

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?v=3.15&sensor=false<?php if($googleApi != '') { echo '&key='.$googleApi; } ?>"></script>

Again, just change "
http
" to "
https
".

Let me know if that helps!

In the demo, when you click on "Blog" you get a page with a section to the left that lists all the posts and a short summary. You can then click on whichever post interests you.

I am building my site so it isn't live, so can't link to it yet. My issue is that I created a test post so I would have something to work with. However, the post doesn't show up anywhere even though it's been published. I get a blank Blog page with no posts.

Hi,

Yes, the problem is in the child theme. With the parent theme works fine. How should I setup the child theme?

Hi there,

I don't see the API Key in your source file. I'm not sure if this is due to how you have your child theme setup.

Can you double-check if this issue persists by using the parent theme only? This will help me troubleshoot the issue with you.

Best,

Christopher

Hi Christopher,

All these API that you mention are turned on and I have a credit card connected to my account. If I open the console in my browser I get some warnings.

The first one says there is no API key, but this is not true as I have entered it in the maps settings of the theme.

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys

The second one says Retired Version:

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#retired-version

And the third one Sensor Not Required:

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#sensor-not-required

Regards,
