I tried a few things to fix it, and none worked, so I'm wondering if the theme may have recently become incompatible with the latest version of Wordpress.

Wanted to let you know it works now - ultimately need to use a 64 bit version on windows (so wamp 64). Not sure why it didn't work the other day but I probably just went to the wrong link and mistook it.

xampp for windows is only 32 bit - you can get that working for dates up to 1901 if you comment out:
if ( false === $i ) {
$i = current_time( 'timestamp', $gmt );
}
in the /wp-includes/functions.php date_i18n function - but just go with wamp and make sure to set the php version to the highest available.

I've tried a few things now as I'm running into the issue of not being able to enter dates before 1970- I've got both xampp 32 bit and wamp 64 bit installed and have tried using the latest wordpress available as well as version 4.9.9 in both of those.

Does this still work for you? If so what version of wordpress are you using and can you tell me further details on your stack? I'm running this on win7 locally as well which could be the problem. Any insight you can give me would be helpful!

Hi there,

Regarding the first image title, be sure you're adding the title of the image to the "Alt Text" field for each image. This is important for the gallery feature AND for SEO purposes ;-)

Regarding the years, is your timeline divider set to organize posts by "year"? The default is by "decade", so be sure to adjust that setting if it's still set to the default.

Hi,

I'm running into 2 small issues with the Curator theme.

- The names for the images in the lightbox are not shown for the first image
- The years are not shown correct. 1566 is shown as 1560's and it should show 1566

I made a small screencast of what is happening, here you can also see that you have more options available in your Youtube tutorial than Me.
Hopefully you can help me out.

Hi there,

You appear to be inserting images into your post content from the media library. This is wrong.

You do not insert images into the post content.

You need to navigate to the post edit screen and click "add media". Upload any images that you want to display and when finished uploading, that's it. DO NOT insert them into the post content.

Images that are added this way will be "attached" to the post and display in the slideshow feature for that post.

To use the built-in gallery/slideshow feature, be sure you're uploading your images to the post you want them displayed on. More info here: http://themolitor.com/help/curator/#slideshow

Since the timeline feature does not reside within a specific page, you'll need to make use of a category page. For example, you can create a "Timline" category, assign all posts to that and add a "Timeline" category link to your menu.

I have updated the theme and WordPress (4.9.1) for this site http://www.joatton.com/.

Zoom box is installed and activated.

Everything is working fine for old articles on the timeline (2016 > click > popup > working gallery).

When i create a new article (like as i used to do) i have the popup + zoom but gallery/arrows are not working on timeline & article : http://www.joatton.com/2018/01/16/test-gallerie/

I would like to know if I could show 2 or more distinct timelines based on categories on the home page? I already can show this as one continuous timeline but I would like my timeline based on categories to be one under anther.

Chris, many thanks for your succinct advice. I'm slowly but surely getting to grips with the wordpress architecture. I have now got a decent degree of customization on my site. The only outstanding issue is the need to exchange the existing chronology page (which is currently the home page) with a new static page. I think one of your other posters alluded to this requirement but I don't recall there being a solution given. I have a good timeline that works well with new and amended imagery/text. How do I re-assign this as a page, as opposed to a homepage? I see it has a URL tag that ordinary pages do not have. I don't want to try and blag this as i'll end up screwing things up. Many thanks!

Thanks for this, Chris. Yes I deduced, from searching, that I needed to download and install MAMP as a local server, which I have now done and installed the Curator files. (There's nothing in the CSS folder, should this be otherwise?)

I was expecting all the pages and menus to drop into place, as with the preview, so I could simply adapt, modify and delete as necessary. I only seem to have a first page and no menu items. Have I loaded everything? Forgive my technical illiteracy but I've been landed with taking this project on without real training, due to someone else ducking out.

None of the themes on ThemeForest work with wordpress.com. To use premium themes on ThemeForest, you need to download WordPress from wordpress.org and install it via your own personal web hosting service.

I currently have a free wordpress account and I am using beaverbuilder lite with it. I now want to utilse "Curator" and customise it for my own content. What upgrades, if any, do I need to work on it through wordpress. Forgive me if this is basic but I'm very new to the wordpress architecture
