Hi, how do I change the home page layout of the content to not show across the 3 columns - where is the theme function or page template to modify for this?

I see in customise you can set column count for content and I've put 1 in but this doesn't seem to apply to all pages in the site.

I'd like to add the usual Google map zoom and pan buttons to my Contractor site, and I haven't found any information on how to accomplish that on the forum pages. Does that mean editing the template code or adding a map plugin? Thank you.

I was happy with my The Contractor template since I have issues with some plugins and some post types. About post types I will write another topic.
When I'm looking for a logo carousel or showcase for my website, (link: http://avvaagency.com) I tried many plugins that is for wordpress. Most of plugins working like that you need to create new logo and set featured photo under new post type Client Logo as defined by the plugin. Most of plugins not showed the featured photo section at the right of post editing page. That is why I downloaded and installed the theme again from themeforest.com, but it didn't help. At least I found the solution as activating different theme which is working fine with client logo plugins and setting featured photo and then turning back to the The Contractor theme. It was the solution for back end but not the solution for front. BCZ the web page was not showing the logos or carousels in a correct way.
Now I found different plugin that is not working with featured photo and I still have a problem while displaying.

I set the columns in plugin but it's showing different quantity in the desktop, phone. I tried all devices. With different theme it's working fine but when I'm switching to Contractor there is something conflicting. Also the logos not showing in center, they are not fitting in text box of the page.

I would like to know how i can create the photo gallery effect that is present in the template upon clicking on "Residential";
i can see a main image with 3 other smaller ones that appear next to it on the right. if you could guide me through the steps please.

how do i view and edit the photos i've included into the gallery post format. I tried including them by clicking on add media in classic mode editor but it just inserts the photo into the post without the thumbnails - not like your demo website. Also when I click into the photo to view it larger how do i click out of it that photo without having to go back on my browser, i do not see an X or close option on the photo just forward or backwards arrow.

Is there a way to display category posts within a page - basically I want to include the team asides below some additional page content. Failing that can I add text to specific category template pages?

Also is it possible to strip the category tag from the url of the category page?

No matter what I do when I click import I just get a white screen. After a while if I hit refresh I sometimes get a list of failed to import notices and a few files in the media folder. I've followed all the work through and increased process time/file upload limit etc

I've also contacted my hosting and they investigated and said the below:

"I've looked into this extensively to try and get to the root of the problem. I'm able to replicate the problem but there's no server-side solution from what I can see, it's possibly an issue with the actual file being imported."

Are you able to send me a clean wordpress file to import - or ideally a database export that i can use phpmyadmin to import? I'm not so bothered about images, just want to get the page layouts etc to save time in creating.

The live site is on another host - happy to provide log in access if you can modify hosts file to point to the new hosting where I am building this site on a completely new wordpress install.

I'm having an issue with the featured photos. Your demo images in the Team category are all displayed as squares. When I upload a photo (and use the same dimensions as yours) the image is displayed as a rectangle, how do I make it square?

Am I doing something wrong?

This updated addresses a stylesheet issue when using child themes. To apply this update manually, open functions.php and change the following on line 157 from this...

wp_enqueue_style( 'stylesheet', get_template_directory_uri(). '/style.css');

...to this...

wp_enqueue_style( 'stylesheet', get_stylesheet_uri() );

...then open style.css and change the version number at the top of the page to 1.0.1

On all pages other than home page, can the menu be defaulted to the compact configuration – the clickable mobile menu icon instead of the full menu? Can we keep the full menu on the home page, but force it to contract on every other page?

Loving the theme so far but one thing I cannot work out is how you have different images for categories like on the demo site? i.e the header images on the home page are different to the ones under Team. I cannot for the life of me work out how to change this?

Clean install of wordpress, clean install of the theme, installed the zoom box plug in, activated theme. The "Team" page is the blogroll, and the individual team members' pages are linked to pages not the blog post.

Wondering if there is a way to modify or opt-out of whatever is resizing and cropping the header images. At lower resolutions (ex. mobile) the images look fine. At desktop resolutions (1920w) my header images blur and embedded logos and text look terrible.

The recommended header image size, 1200x800, may seem reasonable, but 1920w is fairly common these days. This is one of the more annoying things about social media, the design perspective of trying to make one image work for everything. When I custom design, I of course hand-render images at varying sizes to ensure they are all crisp and look great.

Whatever is auto-sizing the images in Contractor seem optimized for lower resolutions. It may be resizing my 1920x1280 images to 1200x800 and then scaling them back up to 1920 on my desktop, thus making them look awful.

And/or, it may be lowering the quality of my JPG images--really not cool :-) --presumably to reduce the file size. I would much prefer to have control over image quality.

Either way, I am not getting a good, professional look on my home page display images.

Is there a way I can bypass or disable this, at least for desktop resolutions? Failing that, is there some way I can manually code around it in Php, i.e. putting in some kind of sniffer which-way switch that loads my own untouched images for desktop and loads the auto-resized stuff for mobile?
