If you visit YouTube using Internet Explorer 6, you’ll see a nice little message stating, “We will be phasing out support for your browser soon. Please upgrade to one of these more modern browsers”. Following this message are a few links to download Internet Exlporer 8, FireFox, and Google Chrome. I seriously hope this starts a chain reaction of online companies putting the axe on IE6 support.

[...] all over the news. YouTube is dropping support for IE6. One of the first top-tier websites to do it, I reckon, [...]
I already told you, I only use IE6 at work and I have no control over that!!!! And youtube is blocked anyway, so this news doesn’t effect me yet (or is it affect? damn you grammar!)
FYI – I had to post this comment with IE8 because your site wouldn’t load for me in firefox. You should add firefox support.
Even Yahoo mail seems to do so http://bit.ly/rX5n9 !
I’m in the same boat as Scott at work. I guess they don’t want to upgrade it. I know it’s not cool but personally, I love IE and use IE8 on all my machines. I think it’s about time that they start forcing people to use newer software. The fact that it’s a couple of generations old and while IE8 still has a few kinks to work out, IE7 works great along with Firefox and Chrome. It’s almost like people refusing to go from VHS to DVD. It’s 2 generations old. Update already.
I’m discovering more and more how many issues there are with ALL versions of IE. Even IE8. I don’t even know how many hours I’ve wasted trying to debug IE.
