Could this be the end of the sluggish Virtual PC? I certainly hope so. Boot Camp enables Macs with Intel chips to run Windows…natively. What does that mean? No more having a Mac running Mac OS X that runs Virtual PC that runs Windows. Now, it’s having a Mac running Windows. Sweet.

Just in time for Vista too :-)
Now hold on a minute …. if you’ve got a mac with Intel chips and you’re running Windows, why don’t you just get a pc?
Because PCs don’t run both Windows and Mac. But an Intel Mac can run both Mac OSX and Windows. You get the best of both worlds, within the sexy skin of a Mac ;-)
Maybe I need to add this too: When you turn on an Intel Mac, you have the option of starting up Windows or Mac OSX.
That brings me to my next question. Unless you harbor an irrational hatred of Intel and/or MS, why would you get a Mac. And if you’re running Windows on an Intel Mac, then you’ve just defeated your whole purpose in getting a Mac in the first place. This whole thing is just nonsense I tell ya. Nonsense.
Okay. Let me try and explain this again. You aren’t sacrificing Mac OSX if you have Windows on your Intel Mac. You can choose which operating system you want to use everytime you turn on the computer. Today you might feel like using XP, and tomorrow you might feel like running Mac OSX. Mac OSX is the reason you buy a Mac, but it’s nice because if you still need to use XP for something, you can.
I thought the whole reason you bought a Mac was to give the finger so to speak to Bill Gates and Intel. Is there a reason other than spite that people buy Macs? Or use Linux for that matter?
Of course. For one, they look gorgeous. That right there is enough for me :-) Also, I don’t have to worry about viruses. I’ve been using a Mac since ‘98, and haven’t needed virus protection software once. Then theres the software. I personally think Mac OSX is far superior to XP. Not only is iLife amazing, but Final Cut Pro is unbeatable. There are many other reasons, but I think that is enough to prove my point.
I think its awsome that you can have both and will get one when it comes out if I can afford it.
See, Nate sees the light.
I do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s add more fuel to the fire….7 months later. ;)
macs don’t crash, they “just work” with anything you plug in, you don’t have to restart to get programs to work, built in camera for video conferencing…the list goes on.
You buy a mac because it’s easier, smarter and will make you enjoy your computer again.
Rather than use bootcamp, you can use a program called “Parallels” that lets you run windows at full speed from within OSX (not need to reboot). As a webmaster this is invaluable because I can test my stuff on either machine using any browser I want.
And Windows Vista smells.
